Whirlpool Water Filter Pricing Comparison Explained
You can find the right Whirlpool EveryDrop filter for your refrigerator by the part number on your old cartridge and by where that cartridge goes. Filters 1 through 5, the EDR1RXD1 through the EDR5RXD1, each fit a different set of refrigerator models.
Which EveryDrop filter fits your refrigerator
Match the part number on your old cartridge to the table below.
| Filter | Other part numbers | Refrigerator type | Filter location | Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EDR1RXD1 (Filter 1) | W10295370A | Side-by-side, top freezer and bottom freezer | Top right corner or bottom left grille on a side-by-side, bottom left grille on a bottom freezer, middle of a top freezer | 200 gallons |
| EDR2RXD1 (Filter 2) | W10413645A | Bottom freezer | Top right corner | 200 gallons |
| EDR3RXD1 (Filter 3) | 4396841, 4396710 | Side-by-side | Bottom left corner | 200 gallons |
| EDR4RXD1 (Filter 4) | UKF8001 | Bottom freezer and side-by-side | Top right corner | 300 gallons |
| EDR5RXD1 (Filter 5) | 4396508, 4396510 | Refrigerators that take Whirlpool Filter 5 | Check your owner manual | 300 gallons |
EveryDrop filters 1 through 4 fit Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air and Amana refrigerators. Filters 2 and 4 both go in the top right corner of a bottom freezer refrigerator, so read the part number on the old cartridge to tell them apart.
What each filter reduces
NSF certifies the reductions below for filters 1 through 4.
- EDR1RXD1 and EDR2RXD1 reduce 24 contaminants, including pharmaceuticals, waterborne parasites, lead, pesticides, asbestos and industrial chemicals.
- EDR3RXD1 reduces 66 contaminants, including pharmaceuticals, waterborne parasites, lead and mercury.
- EDR4RXD1 reduces 23 contaminants, including pharmaceuticals, waterborne parasites, lead and mercury.
- The EDR5RXD1 reduces contaminants such as lead and chlorine.
How long each filter lasts
Change any EveryDrop filter at 6 months or at its gallon rating, whichever comes first. Filters 4 and 5 last 300 gallons, and filters 1 through 3 last 200 gallons.
Flush 4 gallons of water through a new Filter 1 or Filter 3 before you drink from it.
EveryDrop or a compatible filter
EveryDrop is Whirlpool's own filter line. Many compatible filters carry NSF/ANSI 42 alone, and that standard covers chlorine taste and odor. Read a compatible filter's NSF listing before you order it, because the listing shows what it reduces.
How to find your filter
Your refrigerator's owner manual or its model number label lists the filter it takes. Match that filter to the table above, and check where the old cartridge is in the refrigerator. Call 855-789-FAST with the model number, and we will confirm the match before you order.
