Hydronix ICF-10Q Quick Connect Filter for a 1/4 Inch Line

The Hydronix ICF-10Q is the 2 by 10 inch inline cartridge with a 1/4 inch quick connect port at each end. It fits the water line to an ice maker or a reverse osmosis system. The cartridge uses coconut shell carbon to remove unpleasant taste and odor from the water on that line.

If the label on your old cartridge shows ICF-10Q, you can order the same part again for the same tubing. If the label shows ICF-10, your old cartridge has threaded ends, and the Hydronix ICF-10 is the threaded version of this cartridge.

Check the tubing and the label on your old cartridge

Start with the tubing, because the ICF-10Q takes 1/4 inch tubing in a quick connect port at each end. Find the inline cartridge on the water line that feeds your ice maker or your reverse osmosis faucet. Measure the tubing that goes into each end of that cartridge. Tubing that measures 3/8 inch needs the ICF-10Q38, because that version has the larger quick connect port.

Then check the old cartridge itself. Compare the part number on its label with the Replacements tab on our ICF-10Q product page. That tab lists the older cartridges that the ICF-10Q replaces. Look at the ends of the old cartridge as well, because a cartridge with threaded ends needs the plain ICF-10. The ICF-10 has 1/4 inch FNPT ends, which means each end has threads on the inside for a fitting to screw into.

The label on your old cartridge overrules any table in this post, because that label sits on the cartridge in your own water line. When the label and the tubing size both match the ICF-10Q, you have the right part. You can still find the right Hydronix model from the tubing size and the end fittings when you cannot read the label. Call 855-789-FAST with what you measured, and we will confirm the part with you before you order.

Which Hydronix model fits your tubing

Hydronix makes this coconut shell carbon cartridge in three versions, and each version has a different end fitting. All three share the same size of 2 inches across and 10 inches long. Choose the one that matches the fitting on your line.

Model End fitting Size of the fitting Where to get it
ICF-10Q Quick connect 1/4 inch tubing Hydronix ICF-10Q
ICF-10 FNPT threads 1/4 inch thread Hydronix ICF-10
ICF-10Q38 Quick connect 3/8 inch tubing Call 855-789-FAST

We carry the ICF-10Q and the ICF-10 for the two 1/4 inch fittings. For 3/8 inch tubing, call 855-789-FAST before you order, and our filter experts will help you with the ICF-10Q38.

Coconut shell carbon inside the Hydronix ICF-10Q

The ICF-10Q filters the water on your line through coconut shell carbon. That carbon removes unpleasant taste and odor, and the cartridge also reduces sediment. The cartridge has a 5 micron rating, and it uses a spring design to reduce water channeling. Hydronix gives the NSF certification in these words on its inline filters page: "Tested and certified by NSF International to ANSI / NSF Standard 42 for material requirements only."

The ICF-10Q is a quick install on the water line to an automatic ice maker or a reverse osmosis system. Hydronix lists five uses on its own page: ice makers, reverse osmosis systems, coffee makers, refrigerators and water coolers. That makes the ICF-10Q an inline water filter for a refrigerator line too, as long as that line uses 1/4 inch quick connect tubing.

Pressure and temperature limits for your line

Hydronix rates the ICF-10Q for a maximum flow of 0.50 gallons per minute (1.9 liters per minute). The maximum pressure is 125 psi, or 8.6 bar, and the water pressure on your line needs to stay at or under that limit.

Keep the cartridge off any hot water line above 100 degrees F (38 degrees C). Keep it out of any spot where the water in the line can drop below 35 degrees F (2 degrees C).

Hydronix gives the cartridge a service life of 1 year or 2,000 gallons (7,570 liters). Change it at whichever mark comes first. The threaded ICF-10 and the 3/8 inch ICF-10Q38 have the same limits and the same service life.

Older inline cartridges the ICF-10Q replaces

Our Replacements tab on the ICF-10Q product page lists more than 50 part numbers that we match to the ICF-10Q. The table below shows a selection of those part numbers. When the part number on your old label appears in this table, we match the ICF-10Q to that cartridge.

Read every character on your label before you compare, because part numbers such as GS-10RO-B and K2533 mix letters and numbers. Our tab lists some part numbers in two forms, such as the Kenmore 46-38447 and 4638447 or the Omnipure CL10RO-T33 and OMCL10RO-T33. A label with either form matches. The ICF-10Q is a Hydronix replacement filter. We list it as compatible with the Whirlpool 4392949 and the four Kenmore numbers in the table below.

Check the end fittings on the old cartridge before you order from this table. If the number on your old label is missing from this table, open the Replacements tab on our ICF-10Q product page.

The tab groups its part numbers by brand. Find the brand on your old label first, and then look for your number beside that brand. Omnipure has the most numbers on the tab, and our table shows all 11 of them. If your old label says LiquiTec or Crystal Quest, look for its number on the tab. If the tab lacks your number too, browse our inline water filters for the other inline cartridges we carry.

How to match and reorder your inline cartridge

Keep the old cartridge in your hand for the first four steps, because you need its label and its ends to confirm the fit. The same steps work for the ICF-10, and only step four changes the model you order.

  1. Find the inline cartridge on the water line to your ice maker or your reverse osmosis faucet.
  2. Read the part number on the label of the old cartridge.
  3. Measure the tubing that goes into each end of the old cartridge.
  4. Pick the Hydronix model that matches the end fitting and the tubing size.
  5. Write the change date on the new cartridge with a marker.
  6. Order the next cartridge at 1 year or 2,000 gallons, whichever comes first.

With the change date on the cartridge, you know when the year is up. If the inline cartridge is part of a reverse osmosis system, our reverse osmosis filter replacement schedule lists when to change each stage of that system. You can add any stage that is due to the same order as your ICF-10Q.

Common questions about the Hydronix ICF-10Q

What does a Hydronix ICF-10Q filter remove?

The ICF-10Q is a 5 micron coconut shell carbon cartridge. It takes unpleasant taste and odor out of the water on your line and cuts down on sediment. Hydronix says NSF International tested and certified its ICF and ISF series inline filters to ANSI / NSF Standard 42 "for material requirements only."

What is the difference between the ICF-10 and the ICF-10Q?

The difference is the Q after ICF-10 on your label, and that Q marks the cartridge with a 1/4 inch quick connect port at each end. A label that stops at ICF-10 belongs to the threaded cartridge with 1/4 inch FNPT ends. The two cartridges share the same coconut shell carbon and the same 2 by 10 inch size.

How long does a Hydronix ICF-10Q last?

Plan on 12 months of use or 2,000 gallons of water from each ICF-10Q. Put a new cartridge on your line at the first of those two marks.
